Why does one zone underperform when the rest of the system is fine?

On a multi-zone system that usually points at the indoor unit or its branch rather than the plant — a loaded filter or coil, a blocked condensate path, a local controller override, or a communication fault on that leg. Recording findings by zone is what makes the pattern visible.

How often should a VRF system be serviced?

ANSI/ASHRAE/ACCA Standard 180 sets inspection and maintenance frequencies for commercial HVAC equipment and the documentation that supports them. On multi-zone systems the practical driver is the number of indoor units and how they are used, since filters and drains at zone level need attention more often than the outdoor plant.

Can a VRF system be expanded when we take more floors?

Often, within limits. It depends on the current loads and zoning, on piping, drainage and electrical interfaces, and on the capacity headroom the outdoor units have. Manufacturer procedures for expansion, start-up and commissioning govern what is possible.

Does the refrigerant phase-down affect VRF systems?

Not their operation. Canada's HFC phase-down reduces supply over time rather than banning equipment. It matters most when a significant refrigerant-circuit repair is being weighed, since charge cost and availability form part of that decision.

Can VRF connect to our building automation system?

Usually. Central controls and BAS connection are part of the design rather than an afterthought, and what is achievable depends on the protocols the system supports and the points your BAS needs. It is worth settling before the work rather than during commissioning.
